The museum was founded in 1980 and ever since it has been a pioneer since it has developed a new approach to the relationship between people and the natural environment. Its actions have helped face a series of environmental challenges and problems affecting our planet, and restore the earth’s natural resources.
The museum has also an impressive “Exploratorium” which organizes “smart”, educational programs for children. Its rooms cover an area of more than 3,500 sq. m. and showcase the natural environment and animals of the Eastern Mediterranean in a really impressive way, focusing on Greece and Crete.
